Every human being is born an explorer. It is the perennial exploratory appetite of humans that has landed them to the moon and back. If we believe in Darwin's theory of evolution, it is mind-boggling how far the successors of apes have come from where they began. From discovering fire and inventing the wheel to curing cancer and automating almost everything, it has been a remarkable journey, and, as they say, the story is still unfinished my friend (chuckles).
This journey of exponential growth that humans are set onto has been possible because we learn from experience, both self and external. What sets apart humans from other living species is our ability to think and communicate in an articulate fashion, which empowers us to pass on the knowledge we have gained in our lifetime to our future generations for them to build upon it. Now, addressing the question that should our lives be a guided tour or a journey without a map: well, it should be a combination of both. We are on two parallel journeys -- one, which is our own individual mission; and the other -- a collective mission as a species. As individuals, we all have our own personal and spiritual paths to walk on, and nobody else's experience can help us reach our destination, as every individual is has a unique psyche. Throughout our lives, we are conditioned to accept so many norms and limitations. It is when we unlearn those limitations and set onto the journey of self-actualisation that we begin to live as our authentic selves. There's no road map to self-actualization, nobody can guide you to know your true self, it is a journey that every person has to go through on their own. In contrast, for the mankind to progress, it is of grave importance that walks along the trails of our ancestors and reach for the unknown, otherwise, we'll have to start from discovering fire again (grins).
